Are you a rat?

Found this funny cartoon off the Net. I think it sums up life as we know it so aptly. Round and round and you'll never stop until it's time for you to head for "home".

Time for me to break out of the vicious cycle of the rat race!
*****
It rained in the wee hours of the morning around 4.30 am, and my first thoughts on hearing the patter of raindrops on the kitchen awning out back were, "I hope it doesn't jam up the roads to work." Thankfully, that did not happen although there was slight congestion at the point where the newly opened SMART tunnel meets Jalan Tun Razak, slowing down traffic significantly. But I still got to work within my targeted time i.e. before 8.00 am (work hours proper begin at 8.45 am). Yes, I am a dedicated employee. Hurhurhur.

Today marks my 2 and a 1/2 month milestone in the new job. In total, 52 working days (excluding the recent Labour / Wesak public holidays) or 13 weeks. And I felt every single one of those days. Time did not fly by, although I have fallen into a set routine by now. They do say that it only takes 30 days to form a habit for life. I have formed personal certain opinions about the job, the people I work with and the company, but am not at liberty to discuss them in this blog. Let it suffice to say that I personally do not see a future with them? But such things are not for me to decide. Still, it adds up to the unsettled feeling somewhere inside.

It's sad... breaking out of the said cycle would often mean losing out to your peers... It's tiring, but the society's so competitive!

You know it's really really bad, when you start dividing up the days, and then the hours, and then the minutes, and then the seconds, to see how much money you get paid....

narrowband: 5 cyclical hugs for you!!!

I think I'm not cut out for the rat race! No zest to run liao.

kyh: 3 busy chupping hugs for you!!

I was working full-time and studying part-time. Just finished my course at the beginning of the year! Yippee!

**********
angel: 1 moving on hug for you!

I wish I could, but I gotta find an opening first!

l b: Oh yeah! You're an amazing mind-reader! I count and re-count, add, divide, subtract, multiply but it still works out to be the same thing!

If you want to leave the rat race, you have to leave the company. Unless you own the company. Then you might be able to fight off the rat race intrustion.

Good luck to ya. *hug*

simple american: Can I leave my company and come work for you? There'd be no rat race there I'm sure... :o)
