Fishing My Way To Made Of Honor

aka Fishing for THE ONE

That secondary title there? I meant it. Literally. No kidding ya.

Lest I be branded desperate (I already am!) let me set matters to rights by explaining that I've gone fishing to land me some excellent goodies.

In conjunction with the June 19, 2008 premiere of the movie Made of Honor in Malaysia, Hong Leong Online and Nuffnang are joining forces to bring a few selected lucky bloggers an experience to remember.

According to Nuffnang's blogpost here, the goodies up for grabs are :

~ an exquisite 8 course dinner at J.W. Marriott KL for you and your partner
~ an exclusive invite to the movie premiere of Made of Honor immediately after

All this magic takes place on 12 June, 2008, so you get to see the show a full week before the rest of Malaysia. Hehe. Just think about it... 8 course dinner with wine wor... plus wedding themed fashion show... and bagpipes performance... souvenirs to be given away... prizes to be won... what's not to like? *grin*

All you gotta do to put yourself in the running for the very nice stuff I already told ya about above there, is head on over to this site here and play the FlipFlop Flippy game. You'll need to play the game (over and over and over and over again until your wrist aches and you fear you might be developing early stages of carpal tunnel syndrome) and take a screenshot of your highest score. Then, craft yourself a blogpost (like the one you're reading right now), stick your results in the blogpost, and email it to the good folks at Nuffnang (flipflopflippy@nuffnang.com). It you're one of the highest scorers, you could be on your way to that tete-a-tete for two at the JW Marriott KL!

Ta-dah! My best score to date. And this is after many frustrating moments of trying to land the big fish and getting stung by the electric eels. Aitelyu, those eels are evurl. *grin* Oh yeah, my blogger friend Paris Beaverbanks posted her score here and I'm sorry to tell you dearie... I beat yer score! Muahahahaha. Oops, sorry. I had a minor Dr. Evurl moment there. Caused by being stung by those darn electric eels one too many times over the past few days while trying to get my own higher score. Dang, this FlipFlop Flippy game is addictive!

So, think I stand a chance? I've checked out a number of my competitors' scores and so far last week I've only seen two persons score higher than me... 13500 and 12750 (by kyspeaks). Ish. How to beat that? I'm not even going to go near the Hall of Famers on the FlipFlop Flippy website. (50000+ is the record! *faint*)

Anyway, if THE ONE for me comes along while I'm at this movie premiere, I wouldn't mind one single bit! No sirree! *wink*

**********
End note :
To that handsome/pretty, very excellent, extremely nice, wonderful person working in Nuffnang who's reading this post, could I be one of THE ONEs to win? *blinks Puss-in-Boots eyes for added effect*

Is you crushing on anyone online?

A little something something to entertain myself and chase away the Monday blues... plus hopefully spark some serious commenting on this blog? Dunwanna turn into a bimbo blog... but the subject I'm blogging about is so... bimboistic!

Anyways, I found this cute post about having a crush on a blogger... and wondered... is it possible? (FYI, the definition of a blogger crush = having a crush on a fellow blogger.)

I guess it is gua... since having a blogger crush would be like having a celebrity crush (whether the blogger is famous or not).

Since having a crush is defined as a "temporary romantic attraction", I'm curious to find out... what would make you have a crush on a blogger? Is it the way he/she writes? Or would it be because of the many many pictures that some bloggers post? Or is it something else? Does the relative anonymity of a blog make it easier or harder? Or is physical presence/contact required for a crush to develop? And the billion dollah question... do you/did you have a crush on a fellow blogger? (Of course, this post would have much more responses if my blog were more widely read. LOL.)

Okay-lah, to make this a more interesting Monday post, I will say that I did (past tense! past tense!) have a crush before on a guy who had his own website (no, I'm not linking it here for you all to go "pat" at). If you ask me now what was it I liked so much about him I would have to say it was mostly because of his writings - they were serious, heartfelt, indepth and personal. All about emotions la. So I got carried away with the writer in him lor. (I have to add a caveat that I know this fella IRL by sight and through a friend of a friend of a friend link. Hah, but he didn't know I stalked his website! And he doesn't know I blog. LOL. Considered blogger crush or not? *wink*)

I wonder whether anyone will comment on this post or not?

p.s. Er, with posting this post I've just scuppered all my chances of people thinking I'm normal at this Saturday's blogger tea party, rite? Rite? Lawl.

p.p.s. Can I blame this post on listening to too much Josh Groban on auto-repeat? *grin*

Take Five On Friday!

So I got tagged again by the Giddy Tigress about two weeks ago. And this tag should only be completed and posted on a Friday. How dictatorial! *pulls a haughty face and flips hair like a beauty pageant contestant* Lawl.

Here goes the tag...

DO YOU PREFER...

1. To watch or to participate?

Depends on what la! Never specify also... if it's an activity I like, you betcha I'll be participating. I might even initiate it and lead in the activity. If it's something I don't like, then I'll be watching lor.

2. Malls, catalog shopping, or the Internet?
Malls, definitely. Didn't you know already that the Curve and 1Utama are practically my home away from home? Well, now you do know. But I have to add a caveat that I don't like malls when there are lots of people - e.g. school holidays and public holidays.

3. A bath or shower?
I don't have the luxury of having a bathtub in my bathroom, nor the time to go soak and play bubbles so I'll go with the shower.

4. To talk to people by telephone, in person or by email?
Depends on the subject but I prefer to either express myself by the typed word or in person. Somehow I just don't "get the feel" of talking to another on the telephone. For one, you can't see the person, facial movements, gestures, etc. These are the things that make conversation, well, conversation! And I think I express myself better in the other two methods.

5. Typing or writing?
Gonna steal someone's answer here and say writing by typing. Cos I'm lazy to write by hand - too much writing makes my hand cramp! (Hated exams, btw. I'd come out of the hall with hand cramps and aching wrist.) Plus my perfectionist nature would make me want to form my letters perfectly and cross every T and dot every I. So writing is just too much work!

Now, I wanna tag :

Fab Five of February

P1050045
Picture taken by rinnah at the 2007 Flora Fest

I have a confession to make. o.0 *blink blink*

You see, rinnah has been very lazy of late. Oh yes! We are stepping into the month of May and I have only published the THHC™ chup results for January! Oh me oh my! *runs around like the White Rabbit in Alice in Wonderland*

To all my fansee... sorry la... the offline real-world life suddenly seems very busy of late. The work deadlines were pretty close together (a number of submissions to do within days of each other and are still coming thick and fast) and not so new (read: delayed) projects have now come back with a vengeance. LOL. I've even been leaving the office later and later... used to be 5.30pm sharp, then 5.45pm, then 6.00pm, 6.15pm... you get the drift. Nowadays my average time to leave office is no earlier than 7.00pm. Aw man! That is so not the work culture trap I wanna fall back into! Then when I get home it's exercise (if I feel like it), dinner, teevee (my AI fix), bloghopping, shower, sleep. Where got time, you tell me? And with my Indonesia trip series, I have half a mind editing photos while the other half a mind is busy trying to keep up with my favorite blogs... the number of unread items in my RSS reader is close to 1,000+. Bleh. And owh, I've already declared RSS bankruptcy a couple of times but within a matter of days its back to the same old levels. When the weekend rolls around I have activities to check out, friends to meet and catch-up with, places to go and see... help! my world is spinning faster and faster and beyong my control. Guess that's why I named my blog It's all about the spin...? LOL.

Aiyah, I got diverted off the topic. See? Easily distracted of late. *grin*

Actually hor, I ramble on so much above is to divert you from the very small results of the THHC™ chup results for February. Laziness to the max leh. Only 5 posts for you to chup and it takes me forever to compute the results. Ahahaha. Oh yeah, another confession to make. I worked on other (time-sensitive) blogposts first before this one... like the Chiling Falls trip, the Indonesia trip series, baby announcements and Mother's Day dedications. And I still have tons of back-dated drafts in my work folder that need to be edited, polished and pictures added. And I've become a wee bit addicted to editing and putting my own photography work in my blogposts. All of that consumes time! Argh!

Cheh. Kena diverted yet again. (Kononnya!) Sorry ya. Back to the subject at hand. Here are the Fab Five of February!

1st - l b
2nd - angeles
3rd - may

4th - parisb
5th - winn, chev, kyh

The tales of T H E H U G H U G C L U B™ (THHC™) can be found here.

Now, let's KFC (keep fingers crossed) that I won't dilly dally again till the next edition of chup results!

I'm a quiz-aholic!

Somebody stop me! *ala Jim Carrey in the Mask*

I clicked on the Blogthings link from angeles' blog (I shall not link to her since she announced that she's retiring from active blogging) and omgawsh, I can't stop taking quizzes! Tsk. Such a timewaster, this is. But, how to stop? I lurve quizzes... so, I can't resist sharing a few *interesting* results below. Heh.

**********

Your Seduction Style: The Coquette

You are a pro at playing the age old game of hard to get.

Your flirting style runs hot and cold, giving just enough to keep them chasing you.

Independent and self-sufficient, you don't need any one person to make you complete.

And that independence is exactly what makes people pursue you.

*bats eyelashes experimentally* Yau mou kom qua cheong ah? I don't think so lor... (not that I would know it anyway!) but I think this independent streak of mine is what drives guys away rather than make them pursue me. Even my mom says I'm too outspoken and independent. :o(

**********

You are a Romantic Realist

Okay, so you fall in the middle.

You know that love isn't like a greeting card...

Yet you can always find a greeting card to describe your feelings.

You are the best of both worlds.

Girly yet independent, dreamy yet serious.

Almost any guy can find balance with you.

Tsk tsk tsk. Independent again wor. Might as well put there - stubborn female. Will not listen to male opinion unless securely backed by unfallible logic. *grin*

**********

You Go For Brains!

You want a guy with a big... brain.

And of course it would be nice if he were a total hottie, but you're not counting on it.

What's on the inside is what counts for you. (Besides, you can always change the outside later!)

Ah, that must be the reason for this post here. The brains does it, everytime. Independent opinion mah. LOL.

**********

Your Love Type: INTJ

The Scientist

In love, you tend to be very private and withdrawn - even when things are going well.

For you, sex is important in a happy relationship. Less important when things aren't going well.

Overall, you are confident, intelligent, and serious about commitment.

However, you tend to hold back and not show your emotions.

Best matches: ENFP and ENTP

Lagi worse still! I approach love like a scientist? Wah-lau! I dun wan to conduct experiments with my heart leh...

**********

You Are a Total Brainiac

You're amazingly brilliant. Some would even say genius.

You're curious, thoughtful, analytical, and confident.

You take on difficult subjects because you want to... not because you have to.

No field of knowledge is too complicated or intimidating for you.

You've got the brains to do anything you want.

It's possible you end up doing everything you want.

Okay, okay. I give up. Evidently all the test results are skewed towards over intelligence and independence. Might as well declare defeat and acknowledge the results to be semi-true. (At least, as much as you can trust these Internet quizzes. ROTFL.)

**********

The end result of taking the tests above and many more? My brain is evidently overworked and needs a break from all that thinking. :P Oh. But it's a working day tomorrow. Looks like there will be no chance of that happening until next Friday night!

Eye am so blur!

I oh-so-brilliantly tried to take out my eyeball this morning.

No kidding! (This is so going into the annals of rinnah's dumb blonde moments. Heh.) I blame it on the fog of sleep that normally renders me a bit zombified immediately upon waking until about one hour later (or when I intake food, whichever comes first).

See, I was putting on my contacts this morning and somehow or other, managed not to notice that I'd dropped one side (how it happened beats me! I really thought it was in my eye...). As I was putting on my makeup, I thought that something was a bit "off" since I couldn't see clearly out of one eye, and wrongly assumed that I had put in the lens "terbalik" (or reverse side, for those who don't understand Malay). Why on earth I would think that is beyond my comprehension - told you I can't think straight first thing in the morning.

So there I was, attempting to take out a lens that wasn't even in my eye! -_-" Luckily I didn't do anything sillier to my eye before I realized that I was trying to take out my eyeball. Bleh.

Anyways, I located the errant lens on the floor once I figured out what I was doing wrong, and if you wanna know, my eye is perfectly fine. Not even red at all, for which I'm eternally grateful as I have sensitive peepers that can't stand prolonged use of lenses on a normal basis.

Really, I should do less challenging things in the morning!

Superhero me!

Picked up this uber-cool meme from a blog I was visiting, daphnemaia. Since I have NBTB (Nothing Better To Blog), why not try out this meme? *grin*

1. Superhero power I want :
Tele-kinesis. Just like Professor X and Jean Grey from X-Men.

2. Why? :
It's so cool to be able to manipulate weaker minded beings objects just using my mind. It would make mind-blogging so much faster too! Plus, I can fly. LOL. That's the only reason I went with tele-kinesis instead of opting for the Force, even though lightsabers are a pretty cool weapon.

3. Downside of this power :
Can't do it too often or else I'll blow my cover. That and having friends and family be suspicious if I'm just being me or secretly manipulating them. Oh, and there's also the risk of turning into the Dark Phoenix. Lawl.

4. My superhero nickname :
I can't think of a cool superhero nick. Anyone want to help me out here?

5. My motto :
Object matters not.

6. Sworn enemy :
People who wanna make me do things I don't wanna do. Malaysian road builders who keep on changing the lanes in the road and build never-ending highways. Ahahaha.

7. Official vehicle :
Supersonic jet so I don't have to fight traffic?

8. Day job:
Behavioural therapist. So that I blend in with all the kooks and weirdos and don't stand out.

Come on, I wanna know if these people will join the superhero or supervillian team...

L B (My favorite taggee! Can't wait to see his interpretation of this tag.)
Giddy Tigress (I'm her favorite taggee! So I tag her back lor. Hehe.)
Misha (She'd make the cutest superheroine evah!)
Ehon (Hmm, I wonder if he'd be really really good or really really bad?)
Ah Boy (I want to know if canines have superhero / supervillian aspirations...)

Mistaken identity

I was driving home from work just now when I received an SMS. The sender's number wasn't found in my address book, but that wasn't strange seeing as how I'd just lost my mobile phone to thieves last week. The message went like this:

"We are going to A famosa this weekend. Do you want join? - Rachael"

I didn't know any Rachael, so this message evidently wasn't for me. I replied:

"Sorry, think you have sent your sms to wrong number. I don't know a Rachel. Cheers."

Moments later, my phone beeped, indicating another sms. This one read:

"You are eunice right..we all goin to a famosa tis weekend leh..jus ask u go wif us..im travis"

I thought it was pretty funny, so I replied to this travis guy la. Didn't want him to think that "eunice" purposely did not reply his invitation. I said:

"Nope, there's no person named Eunice here. You have a wrong number."

I figured that would get the message across... but boy was I wrong! Another sms came... this time:

"We are going to A famosa this weekend. Hope that you can join us."

At this point in time, I gave up replying. Evidently this travis guy or whoever was sending the sms has no sense whatsoever to check the number that he's sending sms to. Or maybe he thinks "eunice" was playing a belated April Fool's joke on him.

Anyway, I am not going to waste any more money sending "You have a wrong number" sms to him. Heh.

I don't fancy Daniel Craig

Okay, all you Craig fans out there, just shoot me now. *grin*

I rewatched a bit of Casino Royale during my recent holiday (we were chillin' out in the evening) and it so happened that the movie was at *that* part where Craig attempts to do a Halle Berry and walks out of the sea clad in nothing but his baby blue Speedos. (What? Cannot be observant har? LOL.) See, I'm so nice I put a refresher picture here for you too. ;oP

For the 101th time, I've tried my darndest to accept a blond Bond but I just cannot bring myself to accept that. Bleh. For that reason and that reason only, I kind of get put off watching Bond movies. (Eh, I have watched almost every Bond movie ever made, 'k. Blame it on my dad, the Bond franchise fan.) Guess that explains why I've never been able to complete watching Casino Royale. After like five minutes, my brain just goes, "Waittaminute... that's not Bond! Bond's not supposed to look liddat..."

But seriously, what is it with people's obsession with Craig and that particular scene? Is it because he broke the unwritten and unspoken gender rule that only females get to do the bikini scene? Naw, didn't think so. It's because of his body. But hor, IMHO, nothing much to look at la. I've seen nicer. *giggles* On television and on the movie screen la! What were you thinking? *piak*

Think Will Smith. Much, much better looking any day. Or Hugh Jackman. Mmm. But the guy that takes the cake has gotta be Colin Firth. Oh, Mr Darcy! Who else can make women swoon while fully clothed? Lawl.

Tell me I'm not crazy weird and that Daniel Craig (and his bod) are overhyped? Gee...

The mystery of the missing January...

... THHC™ points, that is.

Did anyone notice that I haven't posted up any THHC™ results for this year? Yes? No? I dunno?

Bad girl, rinnah. No more procrastinating! *piak*

Okay, so I shan't put this off any longer, but I got tired of tabulating halfway through so I'm only releasing the January results! *naughty grin* (Samore I only wrote eight posts in January. *gasp*)

But, here are your intrepid chuppers!

1st - l b
2nd - angeles
3rd - mistipurple

And rounding off the pack...

4th - misha
5th - chev & zewt
6th - andie summerkiss (new chupper!), may & wennnn
7th - the giddy tigress & narrowband
8th - kyh

Curious cats and blur sotongs can go here to find out more about THHC™.

I'll try to post up February's results before the month of March is over... *crosses fingers behind back*

**********
By the way, has anyone tried these games before?

They're both done on the same premise, that is, you have to find the hidden objects within the picture. You have to find X number of objects within XX number of minutes in order to progress to the next level. It's very addictive! And strenous on the eyes too. Haha. I can spend an hour or so staring intently at the screen trying to figure out where the hidden item is.

Oops. Now you know what I've been doing instead of posting your THHC™ results. Mystery solved! *grin*

Five plus Five = 2 in 1

Better get to work on my tag debts before they build up! So, here's a bonus 2 in 1 post of tags for ya all to chup on.

**********
The first tag comes from L B... a tag disguised as my virtual birthday present. Lawl.

Name 1 thing you do everyday:
I... uhm... sleep? Eat? Talk? Nah... I... breathe.

Name 2 things you wish you could learn:
~ Cycle
~ Swim
Maybe it's too late now but I really wish I could do both of the activities listed above. Not at the same time though. I don't think I can cycle at the bottom of the swimming pool or ocean without drowning, yeah?

Name 3 things that remind you of your childhood:
~ Skipping rope made of rubberbands
~ Five stones
~ Hearing the ring of the ice-cream man's bell

Name 4 things you love to eat but rarely do:
~ Durian
~ Prawn
~ Crab
~ Sotong
Why? Cause I'm allergic to 'em all. *sigh*

dance.1

Name 5 things that make you feel good:
~ Manicure & pedicure
~ Haircut & hairwash
~ Shopping til' I drop
~ Chit-chat with good friends
~ Dance, baby, dance

I would like to re-gift this tag to Paris Beaverbanks!

**********
The next tag is from the Giddy Tigress! I have to list out five things about me.

Number one :
I sometimes count my steps inside my head when I'm walking. In multiples of ten. More so when I'm climbing stairs, so, I'd be an excellent participant in The Amazing Race because they always make the contestants count stuff. Heh.

Number two :
I don't really like overly sweet stuff. Like caramel. Sweet, sticky desserts... uhm, no thanks. There's a show on the Asian Food Channel called Sugar that uses loads of the stuff! Simply horrifying, I tell ya.

200x200-AngelinaJolie_Aldo_Shoes_Prod

Number three :
I am an incorrigible shopaholic. In particular, I love shopping for shoes. I never tire of looking at shoe shops and would love to have a dedicated closet in my future home just for my many pairs of shoes. Oh, and one of my favorite fantasies is to be able to own as many pairs of Aldo / Nine West / Guess heels as I want!

Number four :
I'm more likely to remember what you said and how you said it than what you did or wore on any given day. Blame it on the elephant-like memory I have. *grin*

Number five :
Erm... I'm running out of things to tell. How about the fact that I scored 48 out of 50 for my electronic driving test? Lawl. Yeap, and the driving instructor said I was "showing off".

And I wanna pass this tag on to Mistipurple! Consider it a belated birthday tag, dearie. Kekekeke!

Ouch! That's so not funny, man...

You know it's time to go on a diet when even your boss playfully remarks on your size. Bah.

I was on medical leave at the start of February's working month, after having unwisely indulged two small slices of kum (aka mandarin orange) after lunch on Sunday. Upon return to work on Tuesday, my colleague told me that my boss had laughed upon receiving my SMS saying that I would be on MC due to gastric pains.

"You mean a chubby person like rinnah also can get gastric pains?" -_-"

That is so not funny man... Looks like I really have to work on my weight issues right away before I receive anymore untoward comments. Oh, but I withstood (and survived!) an onslaught of the aunties during CNY commenting that I've put on weight. Haiiiiii...

Thing is, how not to put on weight when I'm so near to food everyday? My department has this hidey-hole cupboard (yes, a whole cupboard!) we call our pantry where we hide all our junk food from the prying eyes of the world. Haha. That circumvents the rule that there should be strictly no food in the office. Well, they did say no food on display... they never said anything about not being able to store food in cupboards and drawers! Lawl. We (my colleagues and I) have this cute-sy ritual of eating selected foods at certain times of the day. Almost like government servants, we take quickie 5-min breaks to have "tea" at 11am. Then dessert after lunch. 3pm is "raisin time" when we nibble on raisins. 4pm is "chocolate time". After 4.30pm is "Mamee / Cheezel time". You say leh?

It's a tad frightening to note that certain clothes are beginning to feel a wee bit more snug than they should be. Not a good sign. *sigh* Maybe a bit more fleshly padding will help cushion the paintball shots when they happen. Hah. Yep, gotta stop making excuses and just hit the exercise trail.

Yes, you heard that right... rinnah is exercising! Bwahahaha.

I've decided that the best way to exercise is by having fun, so my first activity is paintball this Saturday. Not looking forward to the pain, but looking forward very much to having a ball of a time (excuse the pun). Lawl. Besides the paintball-ing activity, I've also resolved to join my colleagues and management in jogging in KLCC park every Friday evening. I've already gone for one round last week, and despite just doing brisk walking of two circuits of the jogging trail they have there, my feet were aching for 2 days after! Just goes to show how unfit I am.

So, here's hoping 2008 will bring a fitter rinnah!

rinnah plays at being a mechanic

Warning. Really air-headed, fluffy-istic, bimbo-ish post ahead. This is rinnah as you've never seen her. Lawl.

Over the weekend, my baby car gave me a shock by refusing (initially) to start. I valiantly resisted the urge to panic and start bawling call AAM or some other car rescue service but just sat there turning the key over and over again like how you see in the movies, "Start, d@mmit!" Okay, so I didn't actually swear. Lawl. Three or four false starts later, the engine finally caught on and started. Phew! Disaster averted for the moment.

Deciding that prevention is better than cure (and not wanting to wait until something worse happened), I sought several opinions from the male species, all of whom said I should check the battery water levels before doing anything more drastic - I thought that I had to immediately change my car's battery. Just a check sounds simple enough, right? Not when you're an automobile mechanically challenged female. Ahahaha. I do declare that I only know how to drive my car and fill the tank and take it for the occasional car wash / service. I don't ever touch (nor even look at!) the innards of my car. That's what mechanics are for, right? In situations like this, I first look helplessly at Dad, but this time, I had to get down and dirty with my car myself. (Where's the boyfriend when you need one? *grin*) Okay, topping up battery water didn't sound like too Herculean a task since I'm not entirely inept at the handyman game (I do know how to wield a hammer and screwdriver if I need to). How hard could it be?

I started off like a real know-it-all, eschewing to read the manual or guide on how to do it. Roadblock number one. The fluffyheaded, bimbo side of me neglected to find out that there was a catch under the hood of the car to release it. So when I gingerly popped the hood... it wouldn't open, of course. How hillbilly! *blush* A few minutes later and this time with manual in hand, I finally figured out how to get the hood open. Geez.

Then came roadblock number two. I didn't see anything remotely resembling a car battery. I mean, where were all those easy to open screw tops on that boxy-shaped thing shown in the manual? (Note: The drawings in Perodua's manual are not entirely accurate...) Furthermore, superhero me had decided to conduct this experiment... in the night evening, with only the porch light to guide me. Ish. And I wish that car manufacturers would just decide on a standard placement and layout of the engine. Like batteries should always look like this and be placed on the left side of the engine compartment. That would make life so much more simpler! But I digress. Some hemming and hawing later, I realised why I couldn't find my battery. Because it didn't have the six screw tops! Duh. Instead, I found six black plastic circles that looked like sunken in screws. Double ish.

Grabbed a screwdriver from the toolbox and attacked the screws one by one. I just learned from this experiment that there's a maximum and minimum level of battery water. Thing is, I didn't know how much to put because for the life of me, I couldn't see the levels in the dark! How very blonde of me to do so. *vacuous giggle* Unscrew, squint, squirt, squint summore, squirt a bit more, screw. Repeat x 6. I was starting to feel quite accomplished... then poof!

I dropped one of the black plastic screw thingies (the last one) into the innards of my car. Argh! Into one of those hard to reach places to boot. (Bad pun, I know. The engine's in the hood, not boot.) Poke, peer, dig, scrape, all in vain - I couldn't get the screw cap out. Triple ish. Why can't the battery makers make simple screw tops that attach to the battery so this doesn't happen? Because they're probably not female, that's why. A few efforts later, I managed to knock the screw into a position where I could force my hand into a narrow gap and filch it out. Potential tragic-comedy averted. Can you imagine how embarassing it would be to call a mechanic and go, "Uh, I was trying to top up my battery water but I went and lost the screw cap inside the car engine." THAT would have sealed my fluffyheaded female status.

Oh, but you can tell how much of a blonde at heart I am from the above and the fact that hey! I managed to injure myself yet again in this episode. Yup. I don't know whether I scraped my hand filching the screw or if I accidentally got some battery water on my right hand - it turned red (inflamed) and swelled up (minimally) in places across the back of my hand. Aiyayaiyayai! And that resulted in me spending the next 20 minutes standing in the kitchen with my hand in running cold water until the swell and redness went away.

End of adventure.

And to pre-empt your questions:
~ Yes, I did make sure that all the screws were properly tightened back on.
~ No, I didn't overfill my battery with an overdose of battery water.
~ Yes, I am going to learn more about my car, but only under great impulse (like you have to make me do it kicking and screaming all the way)
~ No, I don't intend to take up mechanics as a part-time job. LOL!

And finally...

Wheeee! I need to learn how to pump air into my car's tyres next! Anyone wanna volunteer to teach me? ROTFL. (Actually, I'm serious about this. Ahahaha.)

I'm sure you're now scratching your head and going, "Liddat also can blog about it ah? Got nothing better to do meh?" Actually, ya lor. Cannot sleep mah. Lawl.

Christmas ain't over yet!

Note to self: The surest way to get more tags is to either: a) do 'em really well so that everyone loves reading the way you answered it; b) do 'em so fast that people love tagging you because it's sure to get done; OR c) announce that you have no more tags to do... guess which one method I used? *grin*

**********
We're now into the 4th day of Christmas and the Giddy Tigress is still spreading the Christmas cheer! And being my very giddy galpal, she couldn't help but to give me some cheer for my blog. So, specially for the giddy one, here's an extended Christmas tag!

1. Egg nog or hot chocolate? I would love to say egg nog and pretend that I'm celebrating Christmas ala foreign country style but my conscience won't let me so I choose hot chocolate lor. But seriously, hot chocolate ain't my drink. Gimme iced chocolate instead!

2. Does Santa wrap the presents or just sit them under the tree? I seriously doubt that Santa does anything besides check and recheck his lists. I mean, the elves slave away at making the pressies, wrapping them and loading them in the sleigh. The reindeer have the tough job of hauling that heavy sleigh (just imagine, millions of pressies and one very overweight Santa - it's a wonder the sleigh can even take off!). Mrs Claus probably maps out the route for Santa. All he has to do is visit every house and consume milk and cookies. You say leh? *grin*

3. Colored or white lights? White is subtle, understated and classy. Kinda how the light reflected off the silver decorations in the picture below. (Taken during Christmas dinner at my church.)

P1060479

4. Do you hang mistletoe? No. But I don't mind standing under the mistletoe with *ahem*.

5. When do you put your decorations up? Most years it will be up by the second week of Christmas. By the by, my car is perpetually decorated for Christmas because I have a Christmas beanie baby (a present from my goddaughter, who happens to be older than me. Lawl.) hung up all year round.

6. What is your favorite holiday dish? I would like to say stuffed turkey, but I haven't eaten a really delish, drool-worthy gobbler candidate in Malaysia, so I'll take roast lamb. Yes, I know. Poor little lambie gave up his/her life to be my Christmas dinner. So cruel, isn't it?

7. Favorite holiday memory as a child? I can't remember it per se, but I have the proof! My favorite memory is the precious home video clip of a two year old rinnah ripping open a load of presents on Christmas Day. I love that video. I should get it converted to DVD before the film goes! *fingers crossed*

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? I never believed in the existence of that jolly fat man. Even when I was a tot. I always knew whom my presents came from - mostly from my mum and financed by dad. Ho ho ho.

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? I don't ever recall doing so, but I know that I'd shake and feel up my presents in the days leading to Christmas morning in an attempt to guess what I was getting.

10. How do you decorate your Christmas tree? With non-twinkling twinkling lights, oodles of red velvet ribbon and golden gauzy ribbon, golden bells and the occasional artifical cherry. Don't ask me why it's cherries, they've been there as long as I can remember!

11. Snow: Love it or hate it? I have yet to experience snow so I'll go with lovin' it. But if it's hard as ice, I take it all back!

12. Can you ice skate? Urm. No. Like hello? You're asking the girl who can't even stand up with rollerblades on. And you want me to ice skate? Wuahahahaha. But I love to watch figure ice skating though. Competition skating or Disney on Ice skating, I'm game for it!

13. Do you remember your favorite gift? Sure I do! It's from that precious home video clip above - my biggest present ever. How often do you get a present that's as big as you are? (No L B, I did not get a Real Doll for Christmas. Wahahaha.) I got the coolest ever battery operated scooter (the box it came in was big enough to fit 2yo me inside. LOL.) and I was still tootling around on it until I was seven plus. Now that's what my parents call value for money. Teeheehee!

14. What's the most important thing about the holidays for you? Is this a trick question ah? I love the holidays because they are holidays! Wheeeee....

15. What is your favorite holiday dessert? I don't have a favorite holiday dessert, but I do have a favorite dessert! Gimme some of that Hard Rock Cafe brownie chunks with vanilla ice-cream and I'm in foodie heaven...

16. What is your favorite holiday tradition? Eagerly ripping open the pressies on Christmas morning. I love the sound of tearing wrapping paper and unveiling the mysterious presents under the tree.

17. What is on top of your tree? The tree top la. No really. There's no decoration on top of the tree. I'm thinking of a star for next year though.

18. Which do you like best: giving or receiving? When I was younger, I just lived to receive. Now that I'm older, I work just to give. Lawl. But I love to give... it's the warmest feeling in the world to carefully select a present that (hopefully!) suits the recipient.

19. What is your favorite Christmas song? I love all the Christmas carols and have been part of a caroling group before. This year, current playlist favorites are All I Want For Christmas Is You and Let It Snow.

20. Do you like candy canes? Not to eat, but I like 'em as decorations.

Whew! That is one really long tag... and since Christmas is over, I'm not passing it on... unless anyone wants to pick it up and do it again next year? *grin*

**********
p.s. Oh, I'm postponing my scheduled post - the one where I'm supposed to ask my blogders something - until tomorrow!

One tag to end 'em all...

lord_of_the_rings_calendar_photo

I was tagged by this lovely momma and it seems like a good tag to end the year with (I've finished my pending tags list and provided no one else decides to tag me between now and 31st December 2007. Lawl.).

Favorites
Color: I think I answered this in my last tag, but I'll answer it again anyway. I'm currently in love with baby blue, although baby pink runs a close second.

Food: Junk food. Must eat healthier nowadays, so I'll go with sushi. Yum!

Movie: Lord of the Rings trilogy. I've grown to like it even though Peter Jackson didn't follow the book exactly to a T but I guess he did what he had to do to keep it more 'acceptable' (i.e. fast moving) to the masses.

Sport: Pro-wrestling! *giggles* Football aka soccer. I have been a ManUtd fan since 1990 (so no wisecracks about me being a Beckham groupie - Giggs is still my idol!). Anyone wanna pick a fight? *grin*

Day: Tomorrow. Because you never know what you're gonna get (I'm paraphrasing Forrest Gump a little here). Oh, you meant day of the week? Okay. Saturday then. Because Saturday's the start of the weekend.

Season: Malaysia has four seasons too - Sunny, Rainy, Hazy and, uhm, Cloudy? I wish we could have a temperate climate that's not too hot nor too cold. *after much thought* Sunny la.

Ice-cream: Cookies 'n' Cream rock my socks! Ahahaha.

First
Best Friend: I think that would be Clement in Standard One. Until the other boys teased him mercilessly for hanging out with a girl and he ditched me. Yeah, I got dumped at age seven! Wuahahaha.

Crush: Hmm, that was also in Standard One. All of us girls thought that Alex was the cutest guy in class. Yes, I started looking at eye-candy at a young age.

Movie: Wah, how to remember this one? I'll give a variation of my answer to this one - my first movie in movie theater. That would be Disney's Beauty and the Beast and I drank too much soda and had to go to the little girl's room midway thru at the most exciting point when Belle was being chased by the wolves. *grin*

Music: Probably the nursery rhymes that my Mum sang to me. But again, lemme do a variation - first male and female artiste. Johnny Mathis and Whitney Houston. Still favorites to this day.

Last
Drink: Water. Aqua. H20. Very boring and healthy loh.

Car ride: To the LRT station for work and back again.

Crush: *ahem!* I dunwanna answer this question, can? Oh, but it says last crush and not current crush. Okay, last crush was errr... Elijah Wood?

Phonecall: Mum. Asking when I'm coming home.

CD played: My own Christian compilation of songs in the car coming home.

Gone out with good friends: A few weeks back, when we went to check out The Banquet in Bangsar Village II. Oh yeah, I'm supposed to blog about the food there. Now where are those pics?

Broken a law: Hello? I is law-abiding citizen, you know... Okay, I ignored the one way direction sign (I only saw it after I turned) in a shopping mall carpark to get a space. (No, I did not steal that space from anyone. LOL!)

Been arrested: Hello? Refer to my answer above. I have never even been stopped by cops, k?

Taggees:
Who wants to do this year-end closing tag? Any takers? Anybody? No? Okay, I'll give you guys a break... until next year! *cue sniggering laughter*

I is vanquisher of fats

Chicken fats, that is. Muahahahaha. Lemme say it now that I hate cleaning chicken fats. And urgh! the smell! *puke* Okay, it's not *that* bad, but the smell of the fat tend to linger in my nose until long after. I am the official chicken cleaner in the house now. *grin*

If you read my other blog, you'd know that I managed to somehow bruise and cut my hands while washing my car. Check out my newest war wounds - a mysterious skin blister (sort of?) on my finger! The strangest part is it affects only the middle finger on my left hand, and appeared almost instantly. It's not painful, but it's like the skin decided to let go of its moorings and is now a waddle of loose skin hanging on my finger. I'm in two minds whether to let it be or get out the trusted scissors and snip it off.

Just goes to show that rinnah and daily housework do not mix. Heh.

Why did my character get killed?

I know the Transformers craze this year is long over (until the next movie), but I found this fun quiz on the Net and decided to do it for kicks. Why oh why of all the Autobots to be I ended up as Jazz? He's the puny one with the wise-crack mouth that gets ripped into two by evil bad-@$$ Megatron. Eeeesh. Must be because I was most upset when I saw that scene (taken from YouTube below) - I kept on going, "Oh no, poor Autobot!". And like Humpty Dumpty, they couldn't put Jazz back together again. Shucks.

My new NEC baby

Short note: No, this baby is NOT the M_ B_ _ _ that I've been hoping for this Christmas! That one, is... human. Lawl.

**********
After many weeks days of false hopes and interminable delays, my long awaited NEC laptop arrived yesterday! (
kyh, I have joined the NEC gang. Hehehe.) Those who are pat enough can read the earlier saga here. (See, Signor LB, you are not the only one with new tech toys! Lawl. Okay, okay, so it's not a Forbidden Fruit and therefore not as lust-worthy, but I love having new tech toys to play with.)

Anyway, this laptop is given to me by my new company so that I can slave away at home for them be a more productive worker. Heh. As I told the
Giddy Tigress, I'm still very much in the honeymoon stage of being able to lug around a laptop and thankfully this is a light one! But I'm getting ahead of myself. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, the...

Ahahaha, it's not as canggih as kyh's because this is a strictly business model - even the reviews by TrustedReviews.com and PCPro say so. Don't ask me what the specs and performance is like, I've just started playing with it!

You Ask. Me Answer.

if_you_ask_me_2

20 questions. It's almost like an interview questionnaire, no? Or perhaps 20 questions one has to answer at a speed-dating session. *grin*

Instructions:
Remove 1 question from below, and add in your personal question, make it a total of 20 questions, then tag 8 people in your list, list them out at the end of this post. Notify them in their chat box that he/she has been tagged.

1. What color do you like the most?
I love many colors, but right now I am fascinated with baby blue, just like my personal blog. Baby pink runs a close second too though.

2. You like rainy or sunny day? Why?
Neither. I like cloudy days because I get sunburn if it's sunny and wet if it's rainy. But if I really had to pick, I'd take a rainy day, provided I'm indoors. *grin*

3. Where is the place that you want to go the most? Why?
Paris, to see the Eiffel Tower. Saja-la. Because it's really romantic and is an excellent place to practise my photography skills.

4. Which part of you that you hate the most?
Eeeee! Must I answer this question? Off-hand, I'd say my butt, but that can be rectified with lots of toning exercise!

5. When you encounter a sad moment, what would you do?
When I am sad I... make like a Taiwanese serial actress and not express myself, but just let the teardrops flow silently. Ahahaha. Drama queen, hor?

6. What is it that you are afraid to lose the most?
My sense of identity. If you can figure out what I mean by this very cryptic phrase.

7. If you win $1 million, what would you do?
Pinch myself to make sure I am not dreaming. Then spend it all on the things listed here.

8. If you meet someone that you love, would you confess to him/her? Or would you keep it to yourself and observe from afar?
The last time I fell in love, I didn't confess it to him because I wasn't sure whether or not it was love or just a puppy crush. If I'm truly sure, next time 'round I would.

9. List out 3 good points of the person who tagged you.
The
Giddy Tigress is kind-hearted, funny and sexay! lovely.

10. What are the requirements that you wish for your other half?
He has to be someone I can trust and respect. Of course, it also helps if he's got a great sense of humor, good-looking and loaded. Lawl.

11. Till now, what is the moment that you regret the most?
I regret giving up my ballet lessons to this day. I love to dance!

12. Which type of person that you hate the most?
Rude people. Ewww!

To be a rich tai-tai mommy.

15. If you can have 1 dream to come true, what would it be?
Find Prince Charming. Win a Nobel Prize. Be a tourist in outer space. Live happily ever after.

16. Christmas is coming, who do you like to celebrate with?
Family and loved ones. Friends too!

17. What do you think it's the most important thing in your life?
My family and loved ones. Can I add that blogging is a loved one too?

18. If you have a choice to choose your gender, which would you choose to be?
No change! I wanna be a girl cause... Girls just wanna have fun... plus we get to make guys turn cartwheels with the merest lift of our little finger! ROTFLMAO.

19. What is your perfect theme song, based on this quizlet?
Same as GT, I got Don't Cha by the Pussycat Dolls.

20. My Question : If you could, who would you like to trade lives with and why?
Ha, trick question, this one. Lawl. I'd love to be Natalie Portman because she's so brilliant at acting (Star Wars aside!) and is one of a minority: an intellegent actress in Hollywood. Plus, I'd get to look like her! (Dunwan her vegetarian diet though...)

Eight candidates to tag:
Eight is too many... I'll give this tag to the first three chuppers for this post!
